From F1 to GT cars
TAG Heuer reaffirms its engagement to motor racing at a Tokyo press conference with Lewis Hamilton and Ken Okuyama.

At a special TAG Heuer event attended by 250 journalists and VIPs at the exclusive Conrad Hotel in Tokyo on October 7th, 2008, Lewis Hamilton, the current leader of the F1 championship and a TAG Heuer ambassador for the last 5 years, had this to say about his favorite watch, the TAG Heuer Grand CARRERA:
It‘s part of me, part of my style. Without my Grand CARRERA, I feel naked. As soon as I put it on, I‘m stylish and elegant. Four days before the Japanese Grand Prix, Lewis appeared very cool and confident. I‘ll do my best, as usual. I think I have a good chance to win it again. But my main concern will be to get more points and continue to lead the championship.

During the press event, Japanese car designer Ken Okuyama took the stage to announce the launch of a new limited edition of 24 TAG Heuer K.O 7 GT cars. The exclusive twin-seat roadsters are the direct offspring of the revolutionary Concept car presented by the famous car designer at Baselworld 08.
For the first time in GT sports car history, a designer has been inspired by a watch collection, the Grand CARRERA, for the design of an automobile dashboard. In total, 99 K.O 7 cars will be manufactured, of which 24 (for 24 hours) will be equipped with 2 TAG Heuer watches - a men‘s watch, the Grand CARRERA Calibre 17 RS2 Chronograph Ti2, and its feminine counterpart, the Grand CARRERA Calibre 6 RS Diamond Bezel. Only owners of the limited production K.O 7 TAG Heuer sports cars can acquire the Grand CARRERA watch pair, which carry the official K.O 7 logo and are stamped with serial numbers on their casebacks. Acting as a unique bond between car and owner, the twinned Grand CARRERA watches serve as dashboard timers or, when worn on the wrist, ultra-luxury souvenirs of the futuristic, high-performance cars.
Lewis Hamilton‘s participation at the event emphasized the links between the worlds of GT and Formula One. The TAG Heuer Brand Ambassador expressed his commitment to the brand and responded to journalists‘ questions about the end of the F1 season, which promises to be closely contested and very intense.
TAG Heuer wishes Lewis all the best on the Fuji Speedway on Sunday. If he wins the race, as he did last year, he will reinforce his leadership in the championship. The entire TAG Heuer team is supporting him.
