Christine McCrea (USA) and Capt. Shane Carey (Ireland), have been awarded the most elegant female and male riders at the winners of the sixth stage of the Longines Press Award for Elegance at the Dublin Horse Show. The final competition on Sunday 12th August, the Longines International Grand Prix of Ireland, was won by Comdt. Gerry Flynn (Ireland).

Swiss watch brand Longines is proud this year to continue its role as official partner and timekeeper of the Dublin Horse Show. The Longines Press Award for Elegance was judged on Friday, 10th August during the Super League competition by a distinguished group of specialist equestrian journalists, including press from the Irish Times, the Irish Independent, the Irish Field, the Belfast Telegraph and The Irish Examiner newspaper.

The winners of this round of the Longines Press Award for Elegance were Christine McCrea from the United States, riding Vegas and Capt. Shane Carey from Ireland, riding River Foyle. Christine McCrea has been announced the winner for the second year in a row at the Dublin Horse Show. Riders were judged on their elegant attributes and awarded points determined by given criteria, including harmony between horse and mount, fluidity of movement, and overall turnout. The two winners were selected by unanimous decision.

Both Christine McCrea and Capt. Shane Carey were awarded a magnum of champagne and a bouquet of flowers. The points awarded at this round at the Dublin Horse Show will be added to the international ranking and these riders will advance to compete for the final annual prize awarded at the CSIO in Barcelona this September. The overall most elegant horsewoman and horseman will be awarded with a new trophy created especially to commemorate the 175th anniversary of Longines, as well as 60,000 Swiss Francs and a set of Longines watches.

The final competition on the Sunday of the Dublin Horse Show hosted the renowned Longines International Grand Prix of Ireland. The first prize was awarded to Comdt. Gerry Flynn from Ireland riding Mo Chroi, with Ben Schroder on BMC Rupert R in second and Jane Richard on Jalla De Gaverie in third. Longines is pleased to announce that their Ambassador of Elegance Jane Richard from Switzerland achieved her best result ever in the Super League. Jane said: "I am delighted with my performance; achieving third place in the International Longines Grand Prix of Ireland is more than I could have hoped for. It has been a fantastic day for me".

Longines also launched at this event its new watch designed specifically for horse riding enthusiasts: the “Instrument pour Cavalier”. This watch, which bears a tachymeter specially calibrated to enable the calculation of a horse's speed, is part of the Longines Sport Collection which will be available in Ireland this autumn.
