Girard-Perregaux is proud to have participated in theextraordinary competition since the end of 2004. As itsPresident, Luigi Macaluso, emphasizes: “This was a very important challenge that allowed us to measure ourselves ina prestigious international context. It was the first time Girard-Perregaux participated in the field of high-profile globalsport sponsoring and we therefore chose an event reflectingour values and our vision such as exceeding ourselves, passion and investment in Research & Development”.
The project allowed Girard-Perregaux to put to the testits know-how and the competencies of its Research andDevelopment department to design sporting watch collectionsfor “BMW ORACLE Racing”, with functions adaptedto the sailing races. For example, the Laureato Regattachronograph with a flying Tourbillon includes a hand entirely devoted to the ten-minute countdown period beforethe beginning of the regattas. Through its partnership,Girard-Perregaux has been evolving in a universe that applies the most up-to-date technologies and gaininginspiration from this stimulating environment to put innovativematerials to practical use.
These 3 years where also fundamental for the visibilityand the image of the Girard-Perregaux Brand. The Louis Vuitton Cup has in fact allowed the “Manufacture” to experimentnew marketing alleys, sophisticated and relevant tothe prestige segment as well as increasing the visibility andprofile of the Brand.
As Mr Macaluso underlines: “Media feedback, and ourcommunications campaign broadcast by CNN Internationalduring 2007, reinforced the perception of Girard-Perregaux as a dynamic Brand favouring innovation. Wehave also reaffirmed our position as designer of sophisticatedwatches with complicated movements.”

Girard-Perregaux continues its engagement inprestige sailing with the Bol d'Or Mirabaud 2007 – theforemost sailing competition on a lake in Europe – duringthe month of June on the Leman lake. As far as the Challengefor the America's Cup, we are actively and carefully studyingfuture projects”.
