Official MotoGP Timekeeper Tissot brings motor racing icons together for the first time.Danica Patrick to Present Pole Position Award The Official Timekeeper of MotoGP, Premier Swiss watch brand Tissot is celebrating the return of international motorcycling racing to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday September 13, 2008. It has been 100 years since motorcycle racing has sped down the tracks of the famed speedway since the track opened in August 1909. Since more than half a century, Tissot has formed a strong link to the world of motor racing events by being involved in sports such as Formula 1, IndyCar® Series, MotoGP and NASCAR®. The parallel that both the watch brand and motor sports share is a mutual passion for precision, performance and leading technology. Two of the most recognizable names in the world of motorsports are the IndyCar® Series Star Danica Patrick and superstar MotoGP Racer Nicky Hayden. Besides being fierce competitors on either four wheels or two, these two athletes also share another common bond. They are both brand ambassadors for the leading watch brand Tissot. To celebrate the historic return to IMS (Indianapolis Motor Speedway), Tissot has arranged for a fitting opportunity for its two ambassadors to meet each other for the first time at the track that means much to both of them. As the Official Timekeeper of the MotoGP, Tissot is very happy to have our two brand ambassadors meet during this historic occasion in Indianapolis. Danica Patrick and Nicky Hayden are exceptional in their respective sports disciplines. They both fit perfectly with Tissot‘s values of innovation, quest for performance and stretching oneself to the limits, said François Thiébaud, President of Tissot Worldwide. Each of the athletes will present the other with their Tissot Limited Edition watches that bear their names and talk about their two worlds. Danica will get a chance to see the world of MotoGP through Nicky‘s eyes as she tours the garages, watches the qualifying rounds and then later will present the Pole Position Award winner with a Tissot watch. This is the first time that a celebrity will award the winning rider during the course of the MotoGP season. The watch awarded becomes almost as coveted as the win in the actual race, as many riders have started their own collections. This day celebrates MotoGP in Indianapolis, an occasion for Tissot‘s two racing stars to meet and shows Tissot‘s long standing relationship with the motor racing world that goes back to 1966.
